Scholarship + Housing Programs

Empowering single parents to pursue a career and earn a family-sustaining wage

Our Programming Model

We have three primary ways for scholars to participate in our programming, based on the varying needs of single parents across California and Minnesota. While participation in our Scholarship Cohort, Stable Housing Cohort, and The Huddle is limited to select applicants, ALL single parents across California and Minnesota are welcome to apply for our emergency grants, as well as participate in our monthly workshops and family nights, regardless of their status as an RTB cohort member.

One-on-One Coaching

Our scholars meet with our whole-family coordinators to create goals and develop action plans to achieve them. Learn how Mobility Mentoring® helped Kiara and her child get into an apartment:

Congratulations to Kiara for achieving her goals of securing an apartment and completing her first semester at CSU Long Beach!

Workshops

In addition to one-on-one mentoring, we host monthly development workshops, which focus on three components of tackling poverty: (1) academic and career pathways, (2) financial empowerment, and (3) social capital (i.e. networking and community-building).

Learn more about our programming

The support I received from RTB helped me to graduate from LBCC. It gave me the opportunity to improve my mental health and improve my relationship with my children. It relieved the constant stress I’ve endured of balancing motherhood, my education and being a one adult and one income household in this crippling economy. It provided me with the stability I needed to secure a full-time job, complete my Associate in Science for Transfer degree and align our lives for a better and brighter future. I’ll forever be grateful to RTB for supporting me and my family through one of the most challenging and defining moment of our lives.
