One in five students are parenting students.

Despite one in five students in the higher education system being parenting students, many higher education institutions don’t provide resources for these individuals’ success as they do to their more “traditional” student counterparts. 

Raise The Barr has been teaming up with single-parent students since 2016 to help single-parent student families achieve self-sufficiency through education, unlocking a brighter future.

RTB has issued over $1 million dollars in financial aid to support tuition, childcare payments, rental subsidies, and emergency grants since 2016. 95% of the single parents we’ve teamed up with remain enrolled in or have graduated, from a higher education institution!

Expense Coverage - $50

Covers the cost of gas and a meal for scholars who attend required programming 

One Emergency Grant - $1,000

Provides an emergency grant for a scholar who faces an unexpected expense

Reward and Incentive Coverage -$100

Supports the cost of rewards, incentives, and gifts for scholars when they reach a goal 

Children’s Programming -$250

Supports children’s programming while scholars attend required workshops 

One Veteran Scholarship - $4,500

The average cost to support a returning cohort member for one year
