Melanie Hoffert

Melanie Hoffert is the Chief Marketing Officer at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation where she leads a team that develops and implements the entire range of marketing and communication strategies to advance the foundation’s mission to inspire generosity, advocate for equity, and invest in community-led solutions. Prior to the foundation, she held leadership and consulting roles where she has delivered content and marketing strategies to organizations in both the nonprofit and private sectors. In 2021, the “Twin Cities Business Journal” named her as notable marketing professional. She is also a creative non-fiction writer with several published works including her memoir, Prairie Silence, which won the Minnesota Book Award.

Melanie grew up in rural North Dakota and earned her MFA in Creative Writing at Hamline University. She lives in Minneapolis and was a founding board member of All Square, a civil rights social enterprise launched by her wife that invests in those impacted by the justice system. Outside of work Melanie spends as much time as she can near Minnesota’s banks and shores, collecting stories for her next book centered on themes of water.
