Minnesota Programming
At Raise The Barr, we offer a range of programming for single parents attending Minneapolis College and Dunwoody College of Technology.
A small number of students from these institutions also participate in a housing cohort designed to help stabilize families. Cohort applications open each spring and, occasionally, mid-year. If you’re interested in applying for the cohort program, please check back on this page for updates throughout the year.

Raise The Barr’s virtual workshops are designed for single-parent students through a two-generation (2Gen) lens and are accessible to scholars across all locations. Offered throughout the year, these sessions focus on practical, real-world topics that support both academic persistence and family stability, including financial budgeting, understanding and improving credit, navigating parenting while enrolled in school, and preparing for career pathways. Virtual workshops also create opportunities for scholars to connect with peers, reducing isolation and building community while accommodating the complex schedules and responsibilities of single-parent students.
This program is required for all cohort members.

Our cohort program provides multi-year, holistic support to single-parent students pursuing college degrees. In partnership with community colleges, we offer a structured pathway that includes all of our typical family-focused programming, monthly one-on-one coaching and goal setting, as well as additional financial support and resources.
This model is built for long-term impact, helping students stay on track academically while they navigate the demands of parenting and create stable, thriving futures for their families. -
Applications open each spring and, occasionally, mid year. Space is limited.
